
Partnership shines in Deped Gensan 2019 Senior High Expo, Job Fair.
“I now enjoy the fruits of my sacrifices.”
Angelyn, a 19-year old resident of Upper Labay, a barangay of this city, as she proudly smiled and said when asked of the skills she developed under the Alternative Learning System (ALS).
“I am now earning more than enough for myself and I can now financially help my parents and my siblings.”
Angelyn is only one of the hundreds of ALS graduates who have landed to jobs as a result of the skills-oriented curriculum of the Department of Education.
And now, the future shines brightest for the thousands of Senior High School graduates and student as the Department focuses on purposive partnership with the LGU, PESO, DOLE, and the other agencies and stakeholders in the promotion of skills and products expo and job fair for the SH and ALS graduates.
In festive mood, thousands of ALS, SHS students, and their teachers filled to brim the SM Trade Hall as DepED Gensan held, on March 18, its 2019 SHS Expo and Job Fair.
RD Allan G. Farnazo, CESO IV, inspired the job fair and expo attendees who were made of students, teachers, and representatives of various agencies and organizations of the city.
The regional director recalled that Plato accordingly believed that a perfect society is made of three classes: the Guardians who served as rulers, the Auxiliary class who were the soldiers, and the Laborers who were the workers and merchants of the society.
“Like the ancient philosophers, I stronglybelieve in the great role of education as it is one of the most important pieces in creating a healthy state.” Farnazo said as he highlighted his message.
Luzviminda R. Loreno, Ed.D, Education Program Supervisor in charge of SHS, on the other hand, said that one purpose of the expo and job fair is “to exhibit the products and the services of each SHS in the city schools.”
“We also expect that our SHS graduates will be hired, as today we partner with 28 participating companies for this job fair,” Loreno said.
Data given by EPS loreno revealed that 56 applicants were hired on the spot, with 362 applicants interviewed. Said applicants sought their luck for Job fair’s 721 registered job vacancies.
“This is a venue for purposive partnership as we provide our graduates with job opportunities,” said Herven A. Allado Soc Mob Coordinator and Special Education Specialist.
“We highlight this job fair and expo with showcases of products, skills, and competencies of our students,” Allado said.
Allado added that the one-day activity was made successful by our partnership with Philippines Business for Social Progress (PBSP), TELSTRAA, South Cotabato Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commence and Industry, Inc., Sarangani Highlands Garden Resort and Hotel, Department of Trade and Industry, and other local agencies of the city.
